"You're finally awake.."
"Where am I?"
"St.Vincent's," replied Det.Proulx who sat in the chair to my left. "It's been 2 days.."
Sigh. So much for getting a start on my new single life.. Widowed.. Oh dear, Harry and Paul.. I cry. I could feel the poor detective cringe at the awkwardness of it all.
"I called your mother. She's in town to help you through your time of loss.."
"Your not very good at the people lines, officer," I laugh breaking out of my momentary lapse of self pity.
He laughs caught off guard. "I'm sorry ma'am. I swear they even give us a box of cue cards with these one-liners.. I am sorry for your losses. And I hope you don't think me even stranger to perhaps ask a few questions.. er once the doctors have a look at you.."
"I'll answer what I can but I've been out of town for a month. I'm a little out of touch.."
"That will be fine. I just want to get to the bottom of it all. I find it strange 2 men who are only related through you are dead under suspicious means.. But then again this past week has been out of the ordinary."
"How so?"
The doctors and their entourage of help entered my room at that point putting off my conversation with the detective for another time..
